UTERINE CANCER IN PIMPRI CHINCHWAD Uterine cancer, also known as womb cancer, is a disease that occurs when cancer cells develop in the tissues of the uterus. There are two main types of uterine cancer: Endometrial cancer The most common type, which occurs when cancer cells form in the lining of the uterus, also known as the endometrium. Endometrial cancer is often curable, and mainly affects post-menopausal women. The average age of diagnosis is 60, and it's uncommon in women under 45. Uterine sarcoma A rare type that occurs when cancer cells form in the muscles or support tissue of the uterus. Uterine sarcoma is often more aggressive and harder to treat than endometrial cancer. Symptoms of uterine cancer include: Unusual bleeding or discharge Pain in the pelvis, during sex, or during urination Spotting between periods or after menopause A lump or mass in the lower abdomen A feeling of fullness in the pelvic region Unexplained weight loss Factors that may increase the risk of uterine cancer include: Early menstruation (before age 12), Late menopause (after age 50), A long menstruation span, and Not getting pregnant. While it's not possible to completely prevent uterine cancer, there are some things you can do to reduce your risk, such as: Maintaining a healthy weight Controlling your diabetes level Avoiding hormonal contraceptives without consulting a gynecologist Eating fresh, healthy foods instead of processed foods If tests don't rule out cancer, you may be referred to a gynecological oncologist or gynecologist for additional tests. If cancer is diagnosed, a specialist will consider treatment options, which may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy.
